Deviance: Nature vs. Nurture Essay

Each general public has built up their own guidelines and standards, and each general public contains the individuals who split away from these standards and desires. These individuals are called freaks. All social orders from the beginning of time have had these freaks who won't adhere to the standards set up by the network wherein they live. Abnormality is vital, somewhat, for social orders to progress. Without abnormality, human culture would deteriorate. The reasons for abnormality, in the same way as other different themes, is begging to be proven wrong. Some state individuals are hereditarily resolved to either be degenerate or not, some state aberrance is brought about by the earth where they grow up: nature, or support. All through the late nineteenth and mid twentieth hundreds of years, numerous families were concentrated so as to perhaps discover an association among heredity and guiltiness or â€Å"feeble-mindedness† (senility was a term utilized in this timeframe t hat could mean various things: different types of mental impediment, learning handicaps, and psychological sickness). The two most notable examinations were of the Jukes and the Kallikak families. The Jukes were first concentrated in 1874 when a humanist named Richard L. Dugdale considered the records of 13 jails in New York. In the wake of investigating various convicts’ ancestries, he found that there was a man, whom he gave the name Max, conceived somewhere close to 1720 and 1740 who was the precursor of 76 indicted hoodlums, 18 house of ill-repute proprietors, 120 whores, more than 200 individuals on government assistance, and 2 instances of dim-wittedness. In 1912, another examination was distributed on the Jukes, this time by a man named Arthur H. Estabrook, who guaranteed Dugdale’s study hadn’t been careful enough. Estabrook included in excess of 2,000 extra individuals into the gathering of subjects included under the pen name raising the aggregate to 2,820. The Kallikak family was first concentrated in a similar year as the keep going investigation on the Jukes was distributed. Henry H. Goddard was an American therapist who ran the New Jersey Home for the Education and Care of Feebleminded Children (presently known as Vineland Training School). In 1912, he started to consider the parentage of a lady in his office, who he gave the nom de plume Kallikak.† Goddard found that the woman’s extraordinary incredible granddad, Martin Kallikak, a Revolutionary War saint, at one point had an ill-conceived kid with a dim witted barmaid. This kid, a child, had offspring of his own, who had their own kids, and proceeded through the ages. These relatives all ended up poor, crazy, criminal, or intellectually hindered. In any case, after further examination into Martin Kallikak’s family tree, Goddard found that his different relatives, those not identified with the moronic barmaid, were totally extraordinary. These youngsters grew up to be astute, prosperous, upstanding residents; they went into vocations like specialists, legal advisors, and pastors. As per Dugdale, Estabrook, and Goddard, there is an extremely clear connection among hereditary qualities and the conduct wherein an individual takes an interest inside the ir lifetime. These examinations, nonetheless, are 100 years of age. A few people would contend that except if increasingly present day research is given to hereditary based aberrance, that we can't consider these examinations substantial today. There has been a lot of study given to hereditarily caused aberrance, specifically to the MAOA quality. In a couple of various examinations the low-articulation variation of this quality, known as MAOA-L, has been connected to an expanded danger of savagery and forceful conduct. The MAOA quality controls the creation of monoamine oxidase An, a protein that brings down the body’s utilization of synapses like dopamine and serotonin. At the point when the MAOA-L quality is available in an individual, their body will utilize a greater amount of these synapses than ordinary, this can prompt rest issue, unreasonably imprudent or savage practices, and extraordinary emotional episodes. A recent report, headed by Andreas Meyer-Lindenberg, found that individuals with the MAOA-L quality were bound to have a little r limbic framework. The limbic framework incorporates the hippocampus, amygdala, front thalamic cores, and the limbic cortex. These pieces of the cerebrum help to control feeling, conduct, and long haul memory. The investigation additionally found that the amygdala became hyper responsive when the members with the MAOA-L quality were given an undertaking, for example, duplicating an outward appearance. The amygdala is a piece of what controls enthusiastic preparing in the mind; the specialists speculated that this gathering would be less inclined to hinder compelling passionate motivations. Studies, for example, these can give incredible help to the nature side of the abnormality banter. On the support side of the contention, various investigations on the impacts of a separation or broken home on a youngster have prompted some persuading measurements. Offspring of separated from guardians are around multiple times bound to drop out of secondary school than those whose guardians kept on being together. Females who experienced childhood in a family where the guardians separated are generally twice as prone to become adolescent moms than those living with non-separated, organic guardians. 70% of long haul sentenced lawbreakers were brought up in a wrecked home. While 75% of adolescent crooks who are viewed as a danger to the general population likewise originated from a separated from family. An ideal case of aberrance being a consequence of condition and not hereditary qualities is a man named Richard Ramirez. Ramirez was conceived in 1960 and was the most youthful of six youngsters; he and his kin all grew up encompassed by a similar home condition. The distinction for Richard being that around ten years of age, his cousin, Mike, turned into a good example in the wake of coming back from the war in Vietnam and accepting various honors and decorations. Nonetheless, Mike was not a positive impact on Ramirez; he demonstrated Richard pictures of ladies in Vietnam whom he assaulted, and afterward gave him photos of similar ladies after they had been severely killed. Mike educated Richard how to chase adequately, and inevitably acquainted him with medications and robbery. What many consider the last trigger for Ramirez, around 11 years of age at that point, was the point at which he saw Mike execute his significant other. In 1983 Richard Ramirez moved to the Los Angeles, California zone; before long, in June of 1984, Ramirez asserted his first casualty. â€Å"The Night Stalker,† as he was in the long run marked, proceeded on a series of murders, assaults, and mutilations until he was imprisoned in August of 1985. Ramirez was sentenced for 13 killings, 5 endeavored murders, 11 rapes, and 14 thefts. He is as of now waiting for capital punishment.

The Garden Of Love Argumentative Essay Example For Students

The Garden Of Love Argumentative Essay ?The Garden of Love? is, clearly, a sonnet about existence and the quest for satisfaction. It is likewise about the impacts that cynicism can have on affection. Blake utilizes religion to pass on that antagonism plagues and debases all life?(51 n.9), further supporting it with his utilization of rhyme plan and symbolism. In looking for adoration individuals as a rule develop scarred and unfriendly from their pointless endeavors. Some keep on having confidence in adoration and its prospects, others don't. These people some of the time look for shelter from their agony in an assortment of houses. It is similarly as frequently that these displaced people venture their adverse mentalities onto others that scan for affection and satisfaction. Individuals who dread love can keep others from discovering it, since they change the positive environmental factors to suit their negative world. the contention between sorted out religion and the individual is the consistent thought all through the sonnet. Blake, himself, scorned the Church, as a foundation instead of a thought, and utilized strict images to show how organized religion can annihilate the darling and maker inside. A sanctuary has been fabricated, distorting a once unadulterated and cherishing condition. In reviewing the sanctuary, the persona feels just cynicism from a strict house, as the entryways are closed ?And Thou shalt not writ over the door?(6). Not just has man and machine attacked this spot once loaded with life, however they have likewise carried with them negative charges. The negative expression, ?Thou shalt not? opposes the directions in Deuteronomy to compose ?Thou shalt?- a positive edict ?upon the posts of they house and on thy entryways,? supporting the idea that ?negative rules invade and degenerate all life?(51 n.9). Different pictures are utilized to speak to individual and Church, positive and negative. He utilizes words that ooze life and breath, for example, ?green, love, bore,? what's more, ?sweet blossoms.? These are generally positive pictures that help the people look for innovativeness and love inside the regular environment(pre-Church). Blake utilizes negative pictures to speak to the Church, which thusly passes on the impacts that antagonism and cynicism can have on positive things. Antagonism can frequently overwhelm inspiration. In ?The Garden of Love? negative pictures attack a positive domain and change it to suit its needs. The Church destroys the regular habitat so as to make a congregation, closes the doors to keep out abhorrent and destitute individuals, and supplanting the Garden of Love with a nursery of death by subbing gravestones for blossoms. Blake utilizes words that infer dimness and cynicism, for example, ?new structure, doors, graves, dark outfits,? also, ?briars.? The positive pictures that are available in the primary verse of the sonnet in the long run vanish and the sonnet is flooding with negatives. ?What's more, I saw it was loaded u p with graves,/And tomb-stones where blossoms ought to be:/And Priests in dark outfits, were strolling their rounds,/And official with briars, my delights ; desires?(9-12). The pictures of guiltlessness and life that presented the persona discovers her place of asylum congested with dimness and tainted with confinements. As Jean Hagstrum stated, ?It is consistently the institutional Urizen who debases normal life. In the nursery of adoration in Experience stands a special stepped area, and clerics read orders from a book on a podium? (531). What used to be a spot rich with life and expectation is being restricted by antagonism. Blakes utilization of clashing symbolism shows how antagonism is irresistible and limits love. Blake additionally utilizes the persona to show the impacts of pessimism on inspiration. The persona changes all through the sonnet as the impact of the composed Church on the earth increments. Before all else, the voice is blameless, unadulterated, open, and invest igating, saying, ?I went to the Garden of Love,/and saw what I never had seen?/Where I used to play on the green? (1-4). The voice was individualistic and not impacted by any forces other than her own. In any case, as the sonnet advances and the persona encounters greater pessimism, that voice changes. In the last lines, with the expansion of inward rhyme plot, the voice appears to be caught and befuddled. ?Furthermore, Priests in dark outfits, were strolling their rounds,/And authoritative with briars, my delights desires?(11-12). In the initial two refrains of the sonnet, it comprises of an a, b, c, b rhyme plan or end rhyme. The end rhyme gives the feeling that the sonnet is just 50% of a nursery rhyme; it is a deficient, however cheerful consummation. The example is especially powerful when the an and c lines are negative. For instance, in line 5, Blake says, ?And the doors of this Chapel were closed.? By closure the line with ?shut,? it gives the peruser a feeling that there ar e unanswered inquiries; it is a miserable circumstance, where there is no chance of opening the doors. Line 5 is an announcement a statement, or sorts, of inconceivability and misery without a rhyming word to infer a glad completion. Notwithstanding, the last refrain augmented this sentiment of disarray, as there was no closure rhyme, just inside rhyme. The inside rhyme gives a sentiment of surged and lost insanity, in light of the fact that the rhyme was a lot more tightly, just as giving a feeling of misery. Through his utilization of rhyme conspire, Blake successfully passed on developing the maker inside and the impacts of sorted out religion on the person. Had Blake utilized an alternate rhyme plan or voice, the unpretentious subtleties or sadness, free for all, or disarray would have been lost to a very surprising reason. With each pessimistic part of the Churchs nearness that the persona experienced, its cheerful and explorative nature turned out to be progressively impacted by strict principles, in this way losing its constructive and cherishing characteristics. Blake likewise utilizes religion as a powerful methods for demonstrating the disavowal of adoration. By show, religion is looked for after as an asylum, generally by individuals who can't manage issues in their own life. In this example, ministers, who deny love through receiving the promise of chastity, don't permit the persona the chance to investigate love, as they have assumed control over the main condition that has represented inspiration. The ministers, wearing shrouds the shade of death, satisfy their obligations to the congregation by ?strolling their rounds.? They choke the affection and delight of an individual, permitting the puncturing thistles of briars to overgrow(Blake 52). Indeed, even in searching out a cleric for counsel on affection, how could the minister potentially offer significant and genuine guidance? He is restricted by his own sentiments of obligation towards rules s et by an establishment and not without anyone else. Chastity is certifiably not a characteristic demonstration of the human body, as affection seems to be, yet something altogether remote and focused in the psyche. The strict foundation adheres to a progression of laws and movements that adoration doesn't. In ?The Garden of Love,? the congregation expects the characteristic demonstration and feeling of affection to follow these movements, which is totally unnatural, similarly as it is unnatural to be chaste and deny feeling for another person. ?The outcome is no less coldblooded the expulsion of sunshine love for evening time misleading, the constraint and corruption of the youthful into the dark and palsied sufferings of the old?(Hagstrum 531). The negative and restricting nature of the Church and chastity forestall the youthful, positive nature of affection from existing and investigating. ?The Garden of Love? is a genuine demonstration of how effectively negative vitality and neg ative environmental factors can wound and taint a positive domain. Pessimism spreads like an illness, upsetting the simple and regular idealistic heart. Blake passes on this point with the advantageous utilization of a restricting organization, for example, the Church, which he further backings with a fine utilization of symbolism and a successful fragmented rhyme plan and voice. He handily indicated that the antagonism others acknowledge through their background wind up denying others of their blamelessness, as they decide not to process their feelings, yet abide in them. How Does Steinbeck Present Loneliness and Isolation in Of Mice and Men(TM)?

‘Of Mice and Men' was first distributed in 1937 during the extraordinary despondency and has greatly affected specialists in America since. Steinbeck got the name of the book from a line in a sonnet ‘To a Mouse' by Robert Burns, the sonnet peruses ‘The best laid plans o'Mice a' Men, posse behind agley, a' lea'e us nothing yet sadness a' torment for promis'd delight!' implying that The best laid plans of mice and men, Go frequently off-base, And leaves us only anguish and agony, For guaranteed euphoria! This identifies with the finish of the book where George shoots Lennie, this is where it regularly wrong in light of the fact that the fantasy is no longer as large as it might have been. The book follows the excursion of two laborers, George and Lennie, bridging America to the ‘Tyler farm' in Northern California. The book begins by utilizing spellbinding language to get an image into the perusers mind, ‘Golden lower region slants' Steinbeck makes America sound like the ideal heaven even with all the bigotry and segregation around then, individuals despite everything needed to go there so as to accomplish ‘the American Dream'. The setting of Soledad I think, identifies with Lennie, ‘Golden lower region slants bend up to the solid and rough Gabilan mountains', this echoes Lennie's character as he is quiet and delicate and has a ‘golden' character, however on the off chance that you express something to agitate him he will gradually ‘curve up' to get solid and brimming with rage with clench hands as solid as rock. Lennie is an untouchable of the gathering, connecting to segregation as he doesn't comprehend everything everybody says, and he doesn't have the foggiest idea about his own quality. Lennie is treat diversely by al of the men ain the bunk-house since he is kid like ‘He don't mean no harm†¦He's a hero' they are attempting to be-companion Lennie after what happened to Curley in light of the fact that they would prefer not to wind up with a disabled hand, when they go into town, Lennie is abandoned and the men converse with him like a kid, he is a piece ‘slow' and doesn't comprehend why individuals treat him in an unexpected way. . The individuals at the bunk-house treat him like a kid yet they do remember him for things like games, though Curley harms him, and Lennie doesn't get why. George is the cerebrums of the two, at whatever point Lennie is in a difficult situation, George is there to receive him in return, this causes Lennie to feel like he has a companion and doesn't cause him to feel desolate. ‘Hide in the brush till I seek you' George is demonstrating Lennie that he will never be distant from everyone else, ‘I got you to care for me, and you got me to take care of you' they battle like siblings however will never disregard one another or cause each other to feel detached in any case deliberately,. ‘An' if a fren' come along†¦ we'd state â€Å"Why don't you remain the night†Ã¢â‚¬Ëœ they would have individuals who care about them. George has this thought of individuals like them who deal with farms not having anyone to think about them, ‘With us it ain't that way, we got a future' George is demonstrating assurance to enable Lennie's fantasy to work out as expected for them to have bunnies to be Lennie's companions so he isn't forlorn, George needs them to be separated by having their own property where no one can hurt them, and they can be a family. I figure George feels forlorn however in the manner where he can't address anyone aside from Lennie, George has limits for what he can converse with Lennie about on the off chance that he overlooks it or doesn't comprehend. At the point when they show up on the farm, George has a liberating sensation when he trusts in Slim and mentions to him what occurred back in Weed and furthermore discloses to him how he used to prod Lennie and that is the means by which they wound up voyaging together, George feels less segregated in light of the fact that now he has somebody to converse with that comprehends what occurred and he can let everything off his mind without raging at Lennie. Candy is the most established laborer on the farm, presently no utilization to anybody because of a physical issue that happened on the farm, he has just one hand. Candy joins George and Lennie in the battle of accomplishing ‘The American Dream' and gives them cash for the farmhouse. ‘S'pose I went in with you guys†¦how'd that be?' Candy begins to feel less desolate in light of the fact that George is at any rate thinking about it as of now, though the remainder of the laborers wouldn't allow him to talk about longing for it. He doesn't feel so confined of where he goes and who he converses with in light of the fact that he realizes he won't be there for any longer. Candy wasn't forlorn in the start of the book since he had his pooch yet the remainder of the laborers thought he was pointless ‘He ain't a whole lot of nothing to you, Candy. A' he ain't nothing more than a bad memory to himself' I think this causes Candy to feel like they're discussing him which connects to the dejection and detachment since he can't open up to anybody and I think Candy feels undermined by George and Lennie's appearance in light of the fact that each time another specialist tags along, it could imply that Candy wont be required any longer. Candy I figure analyzes to the ‘ash-heap' as he has become more established and progressively pointless however he has become some portion of the farm like a milestone. He likewise analyzes to the appendage which I think speaks to his stump, ‘Worn smooth' which identifies with Candy continually stroking it. Law breakers is the main ‘negro' on the farm, he is truly detached by having a space to himself, in a different structure and not being intellectually ready to force himself to converse with any of the laborers, when Lennie first experiences Crooks, Crooks attempts to get Lennie to feel like he feels, and to see how it feels to be separated. The book was written in the 1940's the place the greater part of America was isolated, Crooks was isolated and was just permitted to blend in with the laborers on Christmas. Curley's better half is disconnected as she is the main lady on the farm. She is seen as perilous in light of the fact that she dons red, ‘She is wearing a dress that gives her legs and her lips and nails are red'. George advises Lennie to avoid her in view of the risky red lips, Candy reveals to George that she's a tart yet George can see that for himself. When Lennie is in the animal dwellingplace covering his little dog, Curley's significant other strolls in and begins discussing her delicate hair, she realized that Lennie was equipped for making serious torment and harm somebody, yet she didn't realize he was fit for murdering somebody, Lennie doesn't have the foggiest idea about his own quality. This is a replay of what occurred in Weed as Lennie felt something smooth that he loved and couldn't give up. The statement toward the finish of the book ‘Now what the heck ya assume is eatin' them two folks?' These are the absolute final words in the book and are spoken via Carlson. Carlson possibly comes into the book when things are connected to loosing family, he shoots Candy's pooch and shows no compassion towards him. This proposes Carlson is a desolate character since he doesn't have the foggiest idea what it resembles to cherish somebody and free them. Thin shows compassion and empathy towards George, and takes care of him. This proposes Slim recognizes what its like to free family, and I believe that is the manner by which he wound up alone on the farm, since he lost his family so he chose to attempt to accomplish the American Dream of making something from nothing. George needs to give up and ‘put down' his own family, by murdering Lennie, he likewise slaughters the fantasy, his, yet Candy's aswell. George is presently alone, however has segregated himself from everybody considerably more. Evildoer's forecasts have materialized which is nothing unexpected to him, he's been there for a considerable length of time and has seen heaps of laborers have a similar dream, yet never accepted that them would accomplish it. The finish of the book is left open for you to accept what you need, on the off chance that you need to trust George and Candy got the farmhouse or whether you think George remained at the farm, there is no correct answer so you make your own closure.

Genre Kryptonite Ladies Whod Make a Sailor Blush

Genre Kryptonite Ladies Whod Make a Sailor Blush There’s nothing like a perfectly dropped f*bomb from a ladies lips. I mean to this day one of my all time favorite movie quotes is Kit De Luca saying Cinder-fuckin-rellaâ€"I like to believe it’s what Vivian remembered while standing out on the fire escape that lead her to rescue Edward right back. via GIPHY Now you can like “vulgarities” or not, it’s a personal taste/preference after all, but women are told to leave it to the fellas and behave like ladies instead. Say what? Even at a young age I was very aware of gender double standards: Why couldn’t I pee behind a bush if I suddenly couldn’t hold it? Why did I have to wear a shirt if my chest looked no different then the boys? How come there were types of humor only funny if it came out of a boy’s mouth? I might have known squat about the world back then but I knew something was rotten in the state of Girlville and I was determined to figure out who was behind it so I could yell at them and change itâ€"or tell their mother on them. That obviously never happened and the older I got the more I realized if girls cursed or talked about periods, boobs, bodily functions, sex… they were labeled a certain type of girl, and it wasn’t a good label. It was a bad, bad labelâ€"like being diagnosed with the cooties. Naturally, I wanted to find all the girls riddled with cooties and hear what they had to say. It wasn’t until my mid-twenties when I read Chelsea Lately Handler’s My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands that I’d finally read a woman being completely open in a hilarious wayâ€"I still laugh thinking about her in an MM costume stuck in a window. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying every woman should adopt this personality. Nor that everyone needs to be a fan. But I’d like all the ladies in the world who’ve been told they’d make a sailor blush to be able to stand proud and write a memoir or collection of essays because I will immediately buy it. And then read it in one sitting and wish I hadn’t read it so fast because now the joy is over and the laughter-tears have dried. Not only have I read all of Handler’s books I’ve also managed to find more potty-mouthed funny ladies who refuses to shy away from “unladylike” topics. And I love them all, individually and collectively, for so many different reasonsâ€"starting with they are each unique. I don’t have to agree with everything they do or say, and I can cringe at some of the stories thinking I would have pretended not to know her if I was standing next to her at that moment, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love or appreciate them. More importantly, and I say this with zero stalker tendency, I want to be friends with each of these ladies. Aisha Tyler’s Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation reads as if Tyler is animatedly (and long-windedly) telling you these stories while sitting across from you in a bar. As the title implies she recalls moments in her life where the only person she can play the blame game with is herselfâ€"basically she runs full speed into the unknown and asks questions later, which doesn’t always end well for her but makes for great stories and lessons learned (sometimes). Funny, oozing heart, and intelligentâ€"even if she did once discover she could not hold her pee in all the way home. Rating: Mild sailor blushing. In On My Knees: A Memoir, Periel Aschenbrand hilariously tells stories of squatting in her dead grandmother’s apartment, heartbreak, conversations with her girlfriend, a trip to Israel, her sex-life… Periel certainly has NO filters and will openly talk about ANYTHINGâ€"something her poor mother constantly has to deal with. Rating: The sailor has left the building! A queen of vulgarities and making a name for herself in the male comedy world Sarah Silverman applied her no-joke-is-off-limits philosophy and wrote about her childhood, battle with depression, battling TV censors, and life as a comedian in The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee. Rating: Full double-cheek blush for the writers room chapter alone. In Has Anyone Seen My Pants? Sarah Colonna manages to be insanely funny and introspective while easily moving from humorous to heartfelt stories. And while I love her potty-mouth, sense of humor, and honesty what made me fall even deeper in love with this book, and her, was her awesome female friendships. Rating: HBO level blushing. 14+ years later Margaret Cho’s Im The One That I Want is still 100 percent relevant and important: from her stories of childhood bullies, self-hate/destruction (self-realization), and Hollywood’s DISGUSTING treatment of women and “others. Rating: Rated R blushing. And across the pond Caitlin Moran uses the dirtiest f-word ever (feminism) in How to Be a Woman. No lady subject is off-limits nor spared Moran’s wit, opinion, or wisdomand she boldly goes into conversations rarely talked about, let alone publicly. Rating: The sailor needs new cheeks! Do you have a favorite potty mouthed lady writer? Any essay/memoir recs? Ill happily risk shelf collapse under the weight of too many books in this genre. Save

Bullying in School is Only Getting Worse - Free Essay Example

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), bullying affects twenty percent of high school students. Bullying is a negative action that has continued to occur in education systems all around the world. There are a few reasons as to why the bullying rates seem to be increasing over the years. Nowadays it is normal for children to be given cell phones at such an early age. These teens are so young which is a huge cause for the negative use of social media. Another reason for bullying is teens often compare themselves to fake media and feel insecure, which leads to them bringing others down to make themselves look better. Studies show that twenty-eight percent of American teens ages 11-18 have been bullied. Targets of bullying may be of other race, sexuality, or could also have some kind of disability. Many of us may believe the US education system has the highest rates for bullying, which is false, Austria takes that rate. Bullying may appear bad in the United States, but statistics show there are many others countries that have it worse. With LGBTQ+ becoming a big organization in today’s world bullying rates have increased. A source found on Google states â€Å"Students who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual or non-binary are more likely to be targeted by school bullies for being different. Bullying of people of a different sexual orientation or gender identity can be brutal — and can even lead to assault.† (Wasatch Academy Organization.) The Wasatch Academy also suggested that teachers should start to set a good example by including all in order to help prevent events like this in the world’s education systems. According to ScienceDaily.com, â€Å"In 1991, the average coming-out age was 25. But as of 2010 it is 16 years old.† Coming out at age 16 can be very hard for many. These teens are just beginning their high school years. For them to have the courage to come out at that age is amazing. Bullies throughout the world in school feel as though these teens are easy targets because they’re â€Å"different.† Austria has the biggest reports of bullying. Cyber abuse in Austria got so bad that police have started to investigate social media and texts on many teens cell phones. It is crazy that something so good such as cell phones can have such a negative effect on our society. This Scholastic article states a few ideas on cyberbullying: They may not call it cyberbullying. Students may say they got dissed on Facebook or that someone flooded their phone with mean texts. Even little kids have been known to hack into Club Penguin to sabotage each others games. While most of these incidents occur at home, the problems spill over to the classroom, making cyberbullying an issue teachers cant ignore. The answer isnt forbidding technology, say experts, so much as teaching kids right from wrong. As a teacher, you can be a powerful force in promoting a climate of respect. Educate yourself and be on the lookout for signs that cyberbullying is taking place, because you may be the trusted adult a student turns to for help. (Scholastic.com) Another factor is parental supervision. If children are never taught the right thing then it is very unlikely they will DO the right thing. Children need to be supported in order to grow up and make the right decisions. They need to feel love and peace. Many children are often gifted cell phones at such a young age. It would not be a problem if all were taught how to properly use them. And not only that but how to properly treat people. This is becoming a huge problem all around the world in the education system. It is hard to know when it is right to trust children and young teens with cell phones and social media. There are many ways that bullying could be prevented, including supervision, love, and properly using all cellular devices. Suicide and self-harm has been a very scary effect of bullying. â€Å"Though too many adults still see bullying as â€Å"just part of being a kid,† it is a serious problem that leads to many negative effects for victims, including suicide. Many people may not realize that there is also a link between being a bully and committing suicide,† (Bullyingstatistics.org). Teen suicide is happening all over the world. Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims, according to studies by Yale University. Whether it is about body image, sexuality, or race bullies have found ways to pick on others. There is the bully, the victim, and the bystander. It is important that we tell a trusted adult if we ever witness any type of bullying going on around us. Phones have created a simple platform for bullying to occur. There are many people who choose to bully others anonymously and with certain anonymous apps such as sarahah and ask fm. It is so sad to think that this is happening all around us and we may not be able to even notice it. We need to stop this because bullying has become a huge cause of child/teen suicide. It is so sad to think that someone could be so selfish as to try and make others feel bad about themselves to the point where they don’t feel the need to live. Let this be a great lesson. We can easily try harder to spread kindness and positivity. We can all learn to not be rude to someone just because they were rude to us. Let’s step up and be the bigger person.
